The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the postponement of its planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise until after the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by Mohammed Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Commission’s Information and Voter Education Committee.
According to Haruna, the move followed deliberations at a meeting between the Commission and its Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
“Following deliberations, the Commission resolved to postpone the exercise until after the 2027 General Election,” the statement said.
