Odinkalu demands probe of husband

As the controversy sparked by the shocking revelation by Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented Bauchi North in the 9th Senate rages, former Education Minister and Advocate of good governance, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili has called for investigation and review of judgments delivered by the former President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa
Justice Bulkachuwa who retired in 2020 is the wife of Senator Bulkachuwa who the husband in a viral video during the valedictory session of the 9th Senate, admitted he influenced some of her judgments to help his politician-friends.
Ezekwesili who took to her Twitter handle, urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, to immediately investigate all election cases that came before the retired Justice Bulkachuwa.
She also demanded that the disturbing video clip of Senator Bulkachuwa’s revelations be played for the members of the presidential election petition tribunal.
Ezekwesili who is the Chairman of Board of Women Political Leaders, a global body of women political office holders, accused the Nigeria judiciary of monumental decay.
She also accused the judiciary and corrupt politicians of killing Nigeria’s democracy.
“The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court should immediately institute investigation of all election cases that came before the former President of Appeal Court , the wife of the confessing Senator that compromised her if there’s any honour left in the Judiciary of this country.
“The Nigerian Judiciary and a corrupted political class are steadily confirming how they trade our Democracy.
“What was that Senator saying in the Senate Chamber again?
The outgone Senate President @DrAhmadLawan should be ashamed of himself for covering up confession of crime.
“I have maintained that Nigeria’s corrupted political class of the #SiameseTwinsofBadGovernance in particular are determined to destroy Nigeria. Their unbridled greed for power to do evil and not good is killing our Democracy, the country and people but for how long? We’ll see.
“The video of the Confessions of a Senator of the @NGRSenate on how he compromised his wife, the former President of our country’s Appeal Court to “help his senator-colleagues” should be played to the Justices of the Presidential Election Tribunal in a Live Broadcast.”
Similarly, former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, has expressed shock over Senator Bulkachuwa’s revelations, and called for probe.
He said that the compromise in the judiciary is the reason politicians would want to be declared winner of election at all cost and ask their opponents to go to court.
“Adamu & Zainab Bulkachuwa never discussed politics in the house. They did better than that: they discussed how the wife cld use her high judicial office to help the friends of the husband steal elections. If you don’t like it, #GoToCourt!,” Odinkalu said in a sarcastic Twitter post.
