Presidential hopeful and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, yesterday said the security crisis in the country might be self-inflicted to stall the transition in 2023.
Mohammed who stated this yesterday when he met with the PDP Caucus of the House of Representatives, said such plans must be stopped.
The Bauchi State governor, also lamented that the country is further drifting to a state of no-where.
He said, “As a member of the sub national, we don’t share anything from the NNPC and in the next six months we will not. We are further drifting to a state of no-where.
“The insecurity is there, I am suspecting may be that it is self inflicted so that they will not transit. We should not give them the chance,” he said.
He added that: “We need to know the country, we need to know that insecurity is of two components. The security architecture is not working.
“There is a very serious disconnect. People are really disillusioned and disgruntled because they have been genuinely excluded in the art of governance, in the leadership recruitment, perceived exclusion which is genuine. We have to really close ranks.”
He however stated that having traversed the country he his antecedence had given him the pedigree to preside over Nigeria.
The governor said he has worked with people of different background, adding that he understands the diversity of the country.
“I benefited from Nigeria as a civil servant, as a minister from someone I hardly had anything in common, President Jonathan, he made me a minister.”
He further said the country needs to be restructured.
“Distrust and suspicion has come in, touching our very fabrics of coexistence. Our security is threatened by the cluelessness of this administration. The only thing they know is nepotism.
“The only thing they know is corruption and borrowing money from China. The country is bleeding, all the resources we are generating, we are still owing debt.”
Responding for the House members, Minority Leader, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, urged PDP aspirants to remain united.
He said: “I’m happy that you started the issue of unity by asking them to have a consensus where possible, and let me commend all of you for having gone around to see all the governors.
“I think that all of you that our leaders must come together, be united for the purpose of the goals, representing the interests of the masses. So I want to appreciate your commitment and effort. From your team, I can see that you’re not just taking people from the North-East but you have people from South-East and all over Nigeria.
“The unity of all the aspirants will at the end bring glory to our party,” he said.
