Biafra Nations League, (BNL) says it will completely shut down the Gulf of Guinea on May 30 and hoist the Biafran flags in a Bakassi Peninsula.
The Head of Operations of BNL, Mr Henry Edet, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Enugu.
Edet said that the move was part of decisions reached by the group during the visit of its National Leader, Mr Princewill Richard and the Deputy National Leader, Mr Ebuta Takon.
He said that the duo disclosed the plan during their visit to Isangele, a town in Bakassi Peninsula currently controlled by Cameroon.
He appealed to travellers not to travel to the area from 7am to 12am on the said date.
The BNL national leader said that the hoisting of the Biafran flags in Bakassi Peninsula would be in memorial of the Biafra Day.
Edet said the BNL would shut down waterways leading to Port Harcourt, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea for five hours until the flag is hoisted.
He warned security operatives in Nigeria and Cameroon not to do anything that could jeopardise the peaceful activities in order to avert clashes that may lead to loss of lives.
“Similar programs would hold in Ikom, Cross River State and Ahoada, Rivers State by our members who intend to gather to mark the declaration of Biafra,” he said.
Edet said that their activities for the Biafra Day would be peaceful.
