An Enugu-based entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer, Easton Hill Hotel, Chief Mike Onu has expressed commitments to the growth of the tourism sector in Enugu State.
Onu disclosed this on Tuesday during the inauguration of the 40-room Three Star Hotel located at Plot A/18 Umuoji Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.
He said that the investment was part of his contribution to the growth of the economy of the state and job creation.
The entrepreneur said that he ventured into the hospitality industry to provide a conducive atmosphere for business owners and other members of the public to relax whenever they were in Enugu.
According to him, the hotel would also help reduce the rate of unemployment as jobs would be created for the different sections.
“With the hotel, I intend to boost the hospitality industry in the state. Those who come into the state to do business or have meetings can now have a befitting place to rest and have fun.
“Our goal is to make sure that customers have an enjoyable and comfortable experience,” Onu said.
Inaugurating the hotel, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the state appealed to illustrious sons and daughters of the state to emulate Onu and bring their investments home.
Ugwuanyi said that investing in the state would help expand the economy of the state as well as increase its internally generated revenue..
According to the governor, businesses such as hotels bring huge economic prosperity and also mitigate youth relativeness.
Ugwuanyi noted that he had made efforts to ensure that investors were comfortable in the state by providing the enabling environment and made sure that the tax regime was friendly.
