Protesting youths on Wednesday in Enugu invaded the official residence of the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Callistus Onaga and vandalised the building..
The irate youths numbering over 1000 stormed the property located at Igboeze Street, Independence Layout in protest of the alleged arrest of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
Mbaka is the founder and director of the popular Adoration Ministries, Enugu and Parish Priest, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Emene.
The protesters, who were chanting anti Bishop Onaga songs asked the bishop to resign for denigrating his office by purportedly masterminding the disappearance of the priest among other sundry corrupt allegations.
One of the protesters who spoke anonymously, said that they had gone to the bishops residence to seek clarifications on the whereabouts of Mbaka who had not been seen since Monday.
The source said that they had it on good authority that the bishop on Monday invited the priest who had been critical of the Federal Government to the Bishop’s Court.
“Since then, the priest has not been seen. So, we came here for him to tell us where Mbaka is”, the source said .
Another protester who also spoke anonymously accused the bishop of masterminding the disappearance of the priest.
Ikengaonline reports that the protest also took place at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.
Recall that the priest had few days ago called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign on account of incessant killing of innocent Nigerians in parts of the country.
Mbaka also slammed politicians who had been aiding and abetting bad leadership in the country.
