President Buhari set for France over alleged worsening health condition

    By May 13, 2021No Comments4 Mins Read

    By Our Reporter

President Muhammadu Buhari will reportedly leave Nigeria on May 15 for an official visit to Paris, France’s capital.

Some authoritative sources told Ikengaonline that the president would be in Paris for at least four days, where he would also consult with his doctor.

“Buhari is scheduled to travel to Paris for four days. He intended to fly to Kampala, Uganda, and then to London, England, to see his doctors, but they decided to meet him in Paris instead. On Saturday, he will be on the road “a high-ranking source revealed.

However, the proposal was shelved, and the decision to send Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Uganda to represent Buhari was taken at the last minute when it became clear that the trip to the United Kingdom would not be possible.

Buhari’s health, especially his dementia, had recently worsened, according to top presidency sources, and he had been incoherent at security chiefs’ meetings in the last two weeks.

“Buhari had planned to fly to Uganda for Museveni’s inauguration and then use the opportunity to travel to London,” a top source revealed. “But they changed their plans last minute and sent Osinbajo.”

Buhari intended to attend the inauguration of Uganda’s tight-fisted dictator, Yoweri Museveni, and then allow him to travel to the United Kingdom for treatment.

According to a statement from the State House, Osinbajo will be there, alongside several other Heads of State and Government on Wednesday, May 12 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, Uganda’s capital city.

The Vice President, who also attended the President’s resumption of the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, later travelled to Lagos State to attend another event.

“He will leave Lagos this evening for Kampala, accompanied by Ambassador Zubairu Dada, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Adeyemi Dipeolu, Special Adviser on Economic Matters to the President. He’ll be back in the country later on Wednesday, according to reports “According to a press release from the state House,

Buhari has travelled abroad for medical treatment at least five times since taking office on May 29, 2015, for a total of 170 days during his five years in power.

The following is a timeline of the President’s medical trips; from February 5 to 10, 2016, he took a six-day holiday in the United Kingdom, claiming that his physicians were based there.

Buhari travelled to England for a 10-day medical trip from June 6 to June 19, 2016, for ear infection surgery. He decided to prolong his journey by three days in order to relax.

On January 19, 2017, President Trump returned to London for a medical holiday.

He requested an extension of his London medical leave in a letter to the National Assembly on February 5, 2017. Buhari returned to Nigeria on March 10, 2017, but did not immediately resume work at Aso Villa.

“He was working from home,” according to the White House. Buhari travelled to London for another medical holiday on May 7, 2017. He had been gone for 104 days, the longest he had ever been out of the country.

Buhari returned to Nigeria on August 19, 2017, but it took him a while to get back to work because rats had allegedly destroyed furniture in his office.

He will be operating from home, according to the White House. Buhari left for London on May 8, 2018 for a four-day “medical examination.”

Buhari returned to the United Kingdom on April 26, 2019, for a 10-day private visit to seek medical treatment. On May 5, he returned to the nation.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the global lockdown and strain on medical services, Buhari did not limit his international medical trips in 2020.

In addition, from March 30 to April 6, 2021, the President travelled to London for a routine medical check-up.
