The traditional ruler of Isuokoma Autonomous Community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Eze Ambrose Ogbu, has been abducted by gunmen.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the Monarch’s palace on Wednesday night and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

The reason for his abduction could not be ascertained as his abductors have yet to contact his family members.

A stakeholder in the community who pleaded for anonymity confirmed the incident to our Reporter in Abakaliki.

He added that the abductors of the royal father were yet to contact the family as at Thursday morning.

“He was kidnapped last night at his palace. But the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family nor the community.  We have been waiting but no contact yet,” the source said.

Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, Aliyu Garba, also confirmed the incident.

He said the Command was doing everything possible to locate the monarch and rescue him from the abductors.

“He was in his house, and they came and abducted him. No contact has been established with the abductors,” he said.

The Consultant on Security to the State Government, Stanley Emegha, promised to call back with details later. 

He had yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.

Security situation in the South-East has deteriorated with constant attacks on security agencies and personnel, Government installations and facilities and high-profile individuals.

Last month, armed men invaded the home of Ịkwọ Local Government Chairman killing his Elder Brother and his two sons as well as a security guard.

Similarly, two lawmakers of the Anambra State House of Assembly have been kidnapped and beheaded by gunmen within the past one month.
