The wife of the General Manager of Imo State Zoological Garden, Mr Francis Abioye, Mrs Elizabeth Abioye, on Sunday was kidnapped at the First Baptist Church around Fire Service in Owerri, Imo State.
Mr Abioye confirmed this to newsmen in Owerri.
One of the eyewitnesses who spoke to Ikengaonline said the kidnappers walked into the church premises, identified the woman and kidnapped her.
He further said that they came in an ash-coloured tinted glass Siena fully armed, and forced the woman into their car and drove away.
“Some people said they drove towards Owerri-Aba Road and others said Owerri-Umuahia.
“They came in asking for the woman, identifying her, then dragged her outside the gate into their vehicle. Some of them were holding guns and some were inside the vehicle, others came down and walked into the Church to carry out the operation.”
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Michael Abattam was contacted, but at the time of filing this report, he was yet to respond.
