Igbo youths under the aegis of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex socio-political youth group in the zone, have hit the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu over his promise to make the South-East and industrial hub, dismissing it as “deceptive and an empty promise.”
Tinubu had during his presidential rally in Enugu, promised to turn South-East into an industrial hub if elected President.
COSEYL urged Ndigbo not to trust the former Lagos Governor who it said that “the only thing Tinubu achieved was to build toll-gates for the collection of levies, imposition of different forms of illegal levies in all the markets and unleashing different degrees of touts on innocent Nigerians, motorists and commuters who are at the mercy of those criminals employed by Tinubu.”
The apex Igbo socio-political youth body in a statement by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, said: “It is very laughable that a man who sees every government opportunity to enrich himself, his family members and his in-laws is promising to make South-East an industrial hub.
“Ndigbo are making their zone and other places where they are living and doing their businesses as industrial hubs and tourist sites where people from different places and countries come to visit and learn from.”
COSEYL further knocked Tinubu for criticising former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his endorsement of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
“It is shameful that the same Tinubu who praised the former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 2015 when he endorsed Muhammadu Buhari for President, is the same person that is calling Obasanjo bad names just because he endorsed the best candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, who Nigerians are yearning for to become their President.
“Tinubu speaks from both sides of the mouth. He should go and take his clothes where he left it.
“We advise Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please leave the political stage for people with capacity to deliver who are eminently prepared and qualified to bring the desired change to Nigeria.”
