Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Senator John Azuta-Mbata, who emerged the new President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on January 10, 2025, in Enugu, is of the Ikwere stock in Rivers State.
He was born in January 1960. Senator Azuta-Mbata who is a lawyer by profession, holds Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan.
Senator Azuta-Mbata was elected Senator for Rivers East constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on 29 May 1999.
He served for two terms and was appointed to various committees at the red chamber.
Some of the committees were Defense, Works & Housing, Women Affairs, Finance & Appropriation, Local & Foreign Debts, among others.
He was a member of the Governing Council of Rivers State University of Science & Technology.
