Minority Whip of the Senate, Chukwuka Utazi, had commissioned a new market built by Senator Obinna Ọgba for people of Amanvu, Nkalagu community, Ishielu local government area of the state.
The new Eke Amanvu market was abandoned since 25 years ago without any business activity.
This made it difficult for the people to sell their agricultural produce as they had to travel to neighbouring communities’ markets to do so.
But respite has come their way as Senator Obinna Ogba, who hails from the area, modernised and reconstructed it and handed it over to the community at the weekend.
Commissioning the market at the weekend, Mr Utazi commended Ọgba, who represents Ebonyi Central for the achievement.
He described Ọgba as one of the leading lights of the present Nigerian Senate.
Utazi, who represents Enugu North, urged the people to make judicious use of the market.
Members of the community said the new market constructed for them by Senator Ogba will make it easier to sell their agricultural produce.
Speaking during the handover of the market, Chairman of the community, Felix Ogba, noted that the modern market will make Amanvu a business hub that will attract patronage from far and near.
“The Eke market is here to serve the commercial purpose of Amanvu Nkalagu, her neighbouring brothers and sisters and far away traders,” he stated.
He commended Senator Ogba for constructing the market, which he said has lifted the community.
Ogba while handing over the market to the community, explained that it was not easy to construct and commended the people for their support which led to the completion of the project.
On the governorship position he contested which he couldn’t get his party’s ticket, the Chairman Senate Committee on Youth and Sports urged the people to remain calm as according to him, the situation in the state was temporary.
“Don’t bother yourself, whatever that is happening in Ebonyi is temporary and God is in control of everything. Your destiny can be delayed but it cannot be denied.”
