The Catholic Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev. Chukwuma Onaga, has urged Christians in the state to appreciate the roles and sacrifices of Jesus Christ in the salvation of humanity.
Onaga also hinted that the Easter celebration was a replication of what happened some thousands years ago.
The Catholic prelate stated this on Tuesday while delivering his Easter massage to the Catholic faithful at the Catholic Bishop’s Court, Enugu.
He said that Jesus Christ in saving humanity consolidated the commandment of love, as the height of new commandment.
Onaga noted that the love was dramatised through the washing and wiping of feet of his disciples during the last supper, and urged Nigerian leaders to emulate the example of Jesus Christ.
According to him, Easter celebration is a big feast for Christians’ hope to eternity, saying that all hope does not end on the earth, which the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ point out.
While wishing Christians wonderful Easter celebration, the Catholic bishop asked them not to forget the essence of the celebration as well as participate in activities earmarked to commemorate the Season.
