The Coach of Enugu Rangers FC, Abdul Maikaba, has expressed optimism that his team would defeat Kano Pillars FC on Wednesday in the Federation/Aiteo cup round of 32.
He said this on Tuesday in a statement issued by Rangers Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, and made available to the newsmen in Enugu.
He said the team was adequately prepared to confront Pillars popularly known as “Maisungida.”
The match will be played inside the Practice Pitch of FIFA Goal Project, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja,
Okolie quoted Maikaba as saying: “It is going to be tough but I am optimistic that my players will do the needful on the pitch against a side that we defeated in the final five years ago.
“My optimism is drawn from the fact that we have been playing well lately, going seven matches unbeaten and the understanding in the playing ranks is high.
“We are approaching the match like a cup final because there is no second chance in the Federation Cup.”
The two teams got to this stage of the national competition without a kick of the ball as their opponents failed to show up in the round of 64.
Rangers booked it’s place in the ongoing Federation cup with 5-1 thrashing of a Nationwide League One side, Ingas FC in the state final played inside the club’s training pitch, Liberty Estate, Enugu.
