As the startling revelation made by Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented Bauchi North senatorial district in the 9th senate, continues to raise dust across the country, Foremost rights lawyer, Dr Olisa Agbakoba SAN, has called for the immediate arrest of the senator for further interrogations by security agencies.
Senator Bulkachuwa who made the revelation during the valedictory session of the senate, boasted how he influenced the decision of his wife, Zainab Bulkachuwa, a retired President of the Appeal Court.
Ikengaonline checks revealed that the senator’s wife, Justice Bulkachuwa, retired from the bench in 2020 after attaining the statutory retirement age of 70 years for Justices of the Appeal Court.
“Particularly my wife, whose freedom and independence I encroached upon when she was in office, and she has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues,” Bulkachuwa said in the disturbing video.
He was, however, interrupted by the former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, who was very unsettled about the disturbing revelations being made by the Senator.
“I don’t think this is a good idea going towards this direction,” Lawan shouted in disapproval.
Bulkachuwa is of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Displeased by the self-confessed interference of the senator in judiciary proceedings, Agbakoba demanded immediate action against him to sanitise the system.
Agbakoba who took to his Twitter handle wrote: “Senator Bulkachuwa’s statement at the Valedictory of the 9th Senate is a monumental disgrace for our institutions. This man deserves to be taken up immediately by the authorities.
“It is a blight on my confidence in our systems. I represented Usman Tuggar in relation to disputed elections between him and Senator Bulkachuwa for Bauchi North senatorial. We lost in 3 courts.
“Senator Bulkachuwa seems to suggest why President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT must cleanse the system in a most dramatic and fundamental process if he wishes to succeed.”
“The chairman of @NDICNigeria has also made dramatic revelations pointing to possible deep rot in our systems of Government responsible for financial and monetary policy.
“The president ought to act now!!!”
Other commentators on the social media have joined Agbakoba to demand total sanitisation of the Judiciary and other sectors to rid Nigeria of corruption and restore public confidence.
