Worried by the orgy of violence and bloodbath in Plateau State in the recent times, the Nigerian Army has launched a special operation code-named Operation Hakorin Damisa IV, to end the mayhem.
According to media reports, no fewer than 300 locals have been slaughtered in Mangu LGA and its environs in the last two months alone following a series of attacks by bandits.
Ikengaonline reports that Hakorin Damisa in Hausa language, means Leopard’s teeth when translated.
Launching the new new operation Saturday at Mangu Local Government Area, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, vowed to crush those behind the menace.
Gen. Lagbaja, later held meetings with community leaders in the council after the launch.
Plateau had become an epicenter of violence in the North since 2015.
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, had on Wednesday, visited victims of the mayhem and donated money and food stuff to them.
