In another low, operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS threw caution and decorum to the wind as they were captured in a video exchanging blows with men of the Correctional Service over who would take responsibility of the court-ordered custody of the suspended Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Ikengaonline had reported that the federal high court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos Tuesday granted Emefiele bail of N20 million with one surety in like sum.
In granting the bail, the presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo, ordered the Nigeria Correctional Service to keep the suspended CBN Governor in their custody pending the perfection of his bail.
Consequently, men of the Nigeria Correctional Service moved to effect order of the court to take custody of Emefiele when the situation degenerated to exchange of blows between the Prisons officials and the DSS operatives encamped at the court apparently to rearrest the embattled Emefiele.
Emefiele’s lawyers had hinted of the rearrest when they addressed Journalists at the court premises alleging a plot by the DSS to rearrest their client even after the court had granted him bail.
