Unidentified gunmen have set ablaze the country home of the Traditional Ruler-elect of Okwuru Orsu Ihitteukwa in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Ezekiel I. Nwokedi.

The country home which is estimated to worth about N85 million, was said to have been  set ablaze  by the hoodlums due to Chief Nwokedi’s  outspokenness against the invasion of their land by hoodlums.

Chief Ezekiel Nwokedi who is the Chairman, Odimma Orsu Initiative, an apex socio-cultural organisation established to ensure peace, unity and development in Orsu LGA, had used his position to condemn the activities of the hoodlums urging them to embrace peace.

The embattled Chief Nwokedi, when contacted via phone, expressed worry and disappointment concerning the attack on his house and described  the encounter as very unfortunate.

“The hoodlums looted my house, took away personal belongings worth millions of naira and set my home on fire,” Nwokedi disclosed in tears.

According to him, “All I have lost from their attack is approximately worth over 85 million naira.”

The traditional ruler elect, therefore, called on the state government and security agencies to join forces in fishing out these hoodlums who committed the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Mr Henry Okoye, when contacted on phone, said he was yet to get any official confirmation.

“I am yet to receive any official report to that; I have not heard anything,” he said.

ASP Okoye, however, promised to get in touch with the Area Commander in charge of Orsu LGA to confirm the cause of the inferno and make his findings public.
