Unidentified hoodlums have reportedly set ablaze the country home of the former member representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Jerry Alagbaoso.
The arsonists stormed the former lawmaker’s home in Ama na Ogu, Ihitenansa Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State on Tuesday evening, destroying things and carting away some household items before setting the house ablaze.
This is coming days after Unidentified gunmen set ablaze the country home of the Traditional Ruler-elect of Okwuru Orsu Ihitteukwa in Orsu Local Government Area of the State, Chief Ezekiel I. Nwokedi.
A close associate of the former member of the green chamber, who pleaded anonymity while confirming the ugly incident said the fully furnished duplex and a bungalow in the same compound, were razed down and properties in the houses were looted.
“It is true, the honourable’s house was burnt down. These criminal elements in our community looted and set his house ablaze all in the name of freedom fighting. It’s High time we called a spade a spade, indeed these criminal idiots have bitten more than they can chew.”
Ikengaonline learned that the incident caused pandemonium in the community as residents of the community scampered for safety.
Confirming the report, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Henry Okoye, said: “The Commissioner of Police condemned this dastardly act in totality and has ordered an intensive manhunt for the arsonist.”
“Moreover, Optimal Security Operatives of the Joint Task Force have been deployed in Orsu to prevent a similar occurrence.”
“Certainly, we will apprehend the hoodlums that are involved and they will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” ASP Okoye maintained.
