Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla has assured Imo State Government that the Navy would double its efforts in the fight against criminals terrorising residents.
Vice Admiral Ogalla gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma in Owerri.
The Naval boss was accompanied by principal officers of the Navy; the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze; and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Imo State.
They acknowledged that Imo State was strategic for the Navy in achieving its maritime objectives.
He explained that the “hydrographic survey of Oguta lake to Orashi River to the Atlantic ocean is ready,” and stressed that the project would move to another level very soon.
Governor Uzodimma in his reaction, expressed gratitude to the Navy, pointing out that it was the second time an Igbo man would be occupying the position as Chief of Naval in the history of Nigeria.
The Imo State Governor described the visit as an assurance to an improved and strengthened security situation in the state and promised to provide a good working environment and logistics to help the security agencies restore peace in the state.
