Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has sensationally dropped his deputy, Professor Placid Njoku, as he officially unveiled Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru as his November 11 gubernatorial running mate.
Governor Uzodinma, while expressing his confidence in his running mate, stated that her selection was based on merit and her track record of service to the state.
In an address, the Imo state governor listed the achievements of his administration, noting that it prioritised infrastructure development, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and security.
He emphasised the efforts made in ensuring security and peace in the state, stating that his administration has been able to curb criminal activities and restore the confidence of investors in Imo State.
He used the opportunity to warn politicians to desist from their atrocious acts and sponsoring unrest in the state and embrace peace.
The Governor assured Imo citizens that his administration will continue to work hard to deliver more dividends of democracy, improve the living standards of the people, and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
Earlier, the state Chairman of the APC, Hon. MacDonald Ebere, expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership for their unwavering support for the gubernatorial candidate, Sen Hope Uzodimma and commended the Governor for his track record of success.
Hon. Ebere maintained that All Progressives Congress has all it takes to win the November Governorship election and therefore charged all party members to continue working hard.
He reiterated that Governor Uzodinma made a perfect choice by bringing in a female running mate for the purpose of gender inclusivity in governance. This according to him is not in any way removing the competency of His Excellency Prof. Placid Njoku who has served the deputy Governor.
He prayed God to give them a deserving wisdom, strength and good health to continue in the running of the affairs of the state.
In her response, the running mate of Governor Uzodinma, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru thanked the Governor, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the entire Imo people for the opportunity to exercise her experience in politics and service to humanity.
The unveiling of Lady Ekomaru by Governor Uzodimma, was attended by Imo stakeholders from different walks of life including politicians from across party lines, the academia, players in commerce and industry, elders and traditional rulers, and members of Imo APC.
