Ugo Nosiri, Owerri
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, says his administration will commence the distribution of bags of rice as palliatives to alleviate the sufferings from the removal of fuel subsidy.
Governor Uzodimma stated this at the State Secretariat on a working visit with civil servants in Owerri.
During his visit the Governor took time to listen to their concerns to understand the challenges they face in their day-to-day work as well as toured their facility for on-the-spot assessment and immediate attention.
Uzodimma urged them to remain focused in their duties and resist any temptation to sabotage the efforts of Government.
The Governor said that arrangements were ongoing for the payment of gratuity to the retired civil servants and some welfare packages to alleviate the financial burden on the workers and ensure that they maintained a decent standard of living.
Some of the welfare packages include subsidised housing, healthcare, transportation, and education.
“I am determined to encourage the new Imo State, where there will be robust economy because money making is an act and success is a product of creative thinking.
“You need to be a thinker, you need to be a leader with an acceptable ideology. You need to understand the problems of a place. Unfortunately, we have limited resources, we are prudently allocating these resources to be able to touch all the sectors of the economy and politics.”
