To begin indefinite strike next week

The organised Labour in Nigeria has frowned at the approach of the Federal Government in handling the fuel subsidy removal palliative.
According to Labour, it is insulting for Government to give a bag of rice to 12 persons, and a whopping N100 million to each member of the National Assembly.
Labour, therefore, threatened to embark on indefinite strike that would completely lock down Nigeria any time from next week.
According to Labour, the proposed strike was necessary following the failure of the Federal Government to provide palliatives to assuage the hardships of Nigerians as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.
National Assistant General Secretary of the NLC, Mr Christopher Onyeka, who gave the hint Tuesday, accused the Federal Government of abandoning its negotiations with Labour.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the way Government was going about the distribution of fuel subsidy removal palliatives.
Recall that Labour had on September 1 issued a 21-day ultimatum to the FG over the delay in sharing of palliatives.
The workers warned they might be compelled to embark on indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
Labour in a letter to the Federal Government had said: “If the Government fails to provide the appropriate responses to our demands, we encourage you to maintain your steadfast resolve.
The same passion and determination that fuelled this warning strike will be crucial if we find ourselves compelled to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike.”
