Victor Osimhen is furious with Napoli after the Italian champions posted a video which mocked the striker’s penalty miss at the weekend.
In a bizarre post on the club’s TikTok account, Napoli’s video showed footage of Osimhen appealing for the penalty in the goalless draw with Bologna on Sunday with a squeaky, sped-up voice dubbed over the top. The clip, which has now been deleted, then showed the Nigeria international missing the spot kick.
Osimhen was also involved in a touchline bust-up with Napoli head coach Rudi Garcia after he was substituted in the final few minutes of the stalemate against Bologna, a result which already leaves last season’s title winners seven points behind Serie A leaders, Inter.
The striker, who had attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer, is said to be angry with Napoli’s post and he has now deleted all pictures related to the Serie A club on his official Instagram account.
Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, slammed Napoli’s social media post and has threatened legal action against the Serie A club.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable,” Calenda said in a statement on Monday evening.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.
“A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
Napoli are due to play Udinese on Wednesday evening but it remains unclear whether Osimhen, who scored 26 goals in Serie A last season, will play.
