The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN), Enugu State branch, has elected new executive members for the association.
The election, which was conducted in the presence of IPMAN zonal Chairman, Chief Lawrence Nworuh, saw Mr Uchenna Onyia emerged as the new chairman of the association for the next five years.
Mr George Offor emerged as the vice chairman and Mr Ike Okeke was elected the secretary.
Speaking after his inauguration, Onyia described the election as a new beginning.
He further pledged to unite the organisation in Enugu State, saying that the chapter will be recognised as the best in Nigeria
Onyia said: “Peace and good governance will be my watchword and my leadership will push forward rules and guidelines to eradicate the abnormalities experienced in pump stations, whereby, Marketers of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, have overtime, been accused of manipulating their pump machine against customers.
“I am happy for this day, it’s God’s doing, and by the grace of God, we will make all members part of the association; IPMAN is for all and not one person.”
“We are looking out for all this abnormalities experienced in the sector, especially in Enugu State.
“We want to make sure fuel flows through the nation. Let everyone co-operate with us and Enugu State will be an example.”
The chairman said that the expectations will be judged by their performance as their core word is peace and good governance.
Speaking on eradicating increase in Pump Price from marketers, he said, “we will start by calling them to a meeting, and giving them our rules and guidelines; then, follow it up by setting up a task-force,” he added.
The chairman who acknowledged that the chapter has gone through a lot, called on all aggrieved persons within and outside the association to embrace unity admitting that everyone is accommodated.
The IPMAN Zonal Chairman, Mr Lawrence Nworuh, who expressed satisfaction on the election processes, called on those who parade themselves as the state exco’s to desist from doing so or face the law.
According to him, with the declaration of the supreme Court, the newly elected executives are legit.
“As you can see I am with my zonal exco’s, so the election was successful and went smoothly. For years now, this is the first time we are having election in Enugu depot.
“I want to advise, all does parading themselves as IPMAN, (sic) very soon they will be arrested.
“When you talk about the authentic IPMAN, Today’s election is the original and authentic courtesy of the declaration of the supreme Court.
“We are under the leadership of elder Chinedu Okoronkwo, the national president who won his appeal at the supreme Court in 2018,” he added.
