Stakeholders at the 11th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) have brainstormed on leveraging opportunities that abound in the digital world towards building a sustainable economic growth.
NCCIDE is a forum where all state Commissioners of ICT and Digital Economy all over the federation meet annually to discuss progress, challenges, and emerging trends in the sector. It is a platform that ensures that necessary advice is given to the overall development of the sector and the country at large.
The event themed: “Leveraging Digital Technology and Innovation to Drive Nigeria’s Economic Growth and Development,” was held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House, Kano State.
It started on Monday, 22nd January 2024, and took off with technical sessions held on Monday and Tuesday, where over 160 memoranda submitted by various stakeholders were diligently scrutinised and approved by the council.
In their conversations, the stakeholders explored opportunities for collaboration between the federal and state governments as the country expands plans to drive growth in the digital and innovation ecosystem.
The Programme which lasted for five days featured the presence of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) team led by the President/CEO, Prof Mohammed Ajiya. It also had participants who represented each state of the federation as well as other stakeholders.
It climaxed with the visitation to select sites within Kano, a courtesy visit by council members led by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, to His Royal Highness, Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and to the office of the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Mal. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
