The chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Caleb Ani, has commenced the first phase of distribution of palliatives to no fewer than100 vulnerable citizens of the area.
The palliatives distribution is an initiative of the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency; NEMA and the Enugu State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and the Local Government Emergency Management Agency, LGEMA.
Flagging off the exercise at the Council headquarters, Ani said that the palliatives were meant to provide succour to the victims of natural disasters.
The items distributed include food stuff such as cartons of noodles, bags of beans, rice and garri etc.
The chairman further said that one of the priorities of the government was to alleviate poverty and ensure even dispensation of democratic dividends amongst the citizens.
He assured them of total commitment to attract every benefit due to them from the state government.
Ani also urged them to comport themselves in order to ensure serenity and smooth distribution of the items.
He encouraged them to keep up their support for the government of the day as more are to be benefited.
In different speeches, the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government and prayed for the sustainability of the programme as they pledged their unalloyed support.
