Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has tasked the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) to prioritise the development of a regional railway connecting the five South-East states.
The directive was given during the 4th meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) held yesterday (Monday) at the Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.
The governor emphasised the significant economic benefits of the railway project, which he said is expected to boost economic growth and development in the region.
He also assured the SEDC boss, Mr. Mark Okoye, of the state government’s support for the project.
Soludo at the ANSEC meeting also approved several strategic contracts, including the reconstruction of the perimeter fence at the commissioners’ quarters in Awka, the construction of model gates at general hospitals, and the reclamation and control of flood and gully erosion at the Cosmetics Market.
He reaffirmed his commitment to combating fake drugs, insecurity, and criminality, while reassuring traditional worshippers that the fight against fetishism and sorcery would not undermine traditional worship.
