Serial winner, Carlo Ancelotti, will formally begin the process of quitting his position as Manager of the Spanish Laliga champions, Real Madrid, after the El Clásico this weekend.
Ancelotti is expected to be replaced by Liverpool and Madrid legend, Xabi Alonso, who had confirmed his exit from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
This is according to respected Fabrizio Romano.
The respected Italian football journalist revealed this in an X post on Friday.
“Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid will part ways with formal exit steps to follow after El Clásico. It’s over.
“No issues on extra-season salary as Ancelotti never created any problems on that.
“The Italian coach will get a huge farewell as legend and then… Xabi Alonso, in,” Romano wrote.
Madrid will take on leaders Barcelona, at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís on Sunday, hoping to close the 4-point gap at the top of Laliga. A loss to the host will all but confirm Barcelona as champions.
