Nigerian billionaire industrialist, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, has extended a major show of support to the Super Eagles following their commanding run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), offering performance-linked cash incentives as the team prepares for its semi-final clash.
Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Group and one of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen, took to social media on Saturday to congratulate the national team after their 2–0 win over Algeria in the AFCON quarter-finals, a result that secured Nigeria’s place in the last four of the continent’s flagship tournament.
“To our Super Eagles players — congratulations on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation,” Rabiu wrote, adding that the squad “proudly” has the support of Nigerians as they look ahead to the semi-final.
In his pledge, Rabiu committed USD $500,000 to the team if they win their semi-final match, with an extra USD $50,000 for every goal scored in that game. Should Nigeria go on to claim the AFCON title, he pledged a further USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final.
Rabiu also wished the senior national team continued success as they carry Nigeria forward.
“Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian,” he wrote.
Super Eagles’ impressive AFCON campaign
The Super Eagles have been one of the standout teams at AFCON 2025, maintaining strong form through the group stage and knockout rounds.
Nigeria finished the group phase with impressive results, including a 3–1 win over Uganda to close out their campaign unbeaten in group play.

The Eagles dismantled Mozambique with a commanding 4–0 victory, showcasing attacking firepower and depth in their squad.
Quarter-Final Triumph
On January 10, 2026, Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals by beating Algeria 2–0 at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. Goals came from star striker Victor Osimhen early in the second half and Akor Adams, earning Nigeria a date with tournament hosts Morocco in the penultimate round.
The semi-final showdown against Morocco is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Rabat — a matchup that promises heightened stakes both on the pitch and for national pride.
Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, are chasing a fourth continental title — revenge for recent near-misses and a chance to cap an exhilarating campaign with silverware.
