She made the pledge in Enugu, when she declared open this year’s August Meeting organised by the Wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah. Ugo Nosiri, Owerri The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), has announced an extension of the deadline for party primaries in the state. ISIEC Chairman, Chief Charles Ejiogu, who made the decision during a meeting with party chairmen explained that the extension was due to security concerns. According to Chief Ejiogu, the security issues in the state necessitated the extension, but assured them that it will not affect the September 21st council election date. The commission also reiterated its stance on not interfering in internal party affairs, but will respect court orders.

Lawrence Nwimo, Awka A 39-year-old man, Chukwugozirim Christian, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State for impersonating a Nigerian Navy personnel and committing fraud. A statement from NSCDC said Christian was apprehended at Kwata Junction in Awka during a routine patrol on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.
