The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, will deliver the keynote address at the 2025 Press Week and Award Ceremony of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Comrade Francis Ekpone, during a press briefing at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka.
Ekpone said the event, themed “The Media and Our State Anambra: Reportage in Election Year,” will hold on August 28 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka, the state capital.
He added that the guest speaker for the occasion will be Prof. Angela Nkiru Nwammuo, a member of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Governing Council and Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Anambra State Chapter.
According to him, activities for the press week will commence on August 25 with a novelty football match between the NUJ and the Anambra Patriots for Soludo. Other activities include a tour of major government projects such as the Solution Fun City, Lighthouse, and Urban Regeneration projects.
Indoor games, a visit to the Amawbia Correctional Centre, and the grand finale—the awards ceremony—are also scheduled. At the ceremony, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), will be honoured as the 2025 NUJ Anambra Man of the Year.
Other award recipients include Princess Dr. Jessie Ifeoma Udoka, Hon. Ikechukwu Okafor, Hon. Dr. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, Dr. Nelson Obinna Omenugha, and High Chief Emenike Anthony Nwakaeze.
Describing the press week as a significant annual event, Ekpone noted that it brings together journalists, media practitioners, and stakeholders to promote professionalism, press freedom, and the welfare of journalists.
The event is expected to attract over 2,000 guests, including Governor Charles Soludo, traditional rulers, clergy, captains of industry, and Mass Communication students from across Anambra State.
